FRENCH ONION SOUP

6 Cups Onions, thinly sliced
1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
4 (14.5 Ounce) Cans Fat
Free Beef Broth
1 (10 Ounce) Can Beef
Consommé, undiluted

1/2 Cup Dry White Wine
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
Sauce
6 Tablespoons Gruyere
Cheese, shredded
6 Slices (1/2" Thick) French
Bread

Mix first 7 ingredients in a large saucepan. Simmer for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°. Place the bread slices on a cookie sheet and bake for 8 minutes. When cool, sprinkle with cheese. Spoon the soup into bowls. Place the bread and cheese on top. Microwave for 30 seconds or until the cheese melts. Serve.
