ONION STRATA WITH GRUYERE |
4 Cups Red Onion, chopped

1/8 Teaspoon Pepper

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add onions and prosciutto and sauté 5 minutes. Add water, cover and reduce heat to simmer and cook 30 minutes. Uncover and cook 30 more minutes, or until liquid almost evaporates. Cool. Combine the next 4 ingredients together. Mix until it is well blended. Stir in the onion mixture. Add the bread and toss to coat. Arrange 1/2 the mixture in an 11 x 7” baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 the cheese. Then add the remaining bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake for 25 minutes. Cover with the remaining cheese and bake for another 20 minutes. Serve. |
